The Chief Officer of the Malta Individual Investor Programme (MIIP) has officially published the information that the MIIP will soon reach its original cap of 1,800 citizenships.
Malta Individual Investor Programme Agency (MIIPA) will continue accepting applications for citizenship under the MIIP Regulations until the 30th of September 2020. Applications for residencies under this programme will be accepted until the 31st of July 2020. Individuals who obtain a residence card but do not submit a citizenship application by the 30th of September 2020 may be considered under a new regulatory regime that the Government is considering introducing in the foreseeable term.
While officially no announcements have been made, it is very likely that the MIIP will be renewed or replaced by a similar programme. It is expected that the portfolio investment requirement under the current MIIP will be removed, while the government contribution & immovable property requirements will be increased.
